[music |Shriekback -- Hooray for Everything]

There would appear to be a new Shriekback album, Glory Bumps. It was released nearly three months ago.

Why was I not informed?

Wow, thanks. I had no idea. The stuff from the "All Lined Up" era remains awesome

I've long wanted a service that would scan my iTunes database for artists, allow me to fine tune the list, and then inform me of upcoming releases and concert dates.

Being extremely lazy, I've just kind of assumed that someone like Apple or Amazon would do this sooner or later in conjunction with Ticketmaster.

tourb.us does that for concerts: you can give them a list of bands to notify you about by uploading an iTunes playlist.

iConcertCal does half that, not half bad.

Is it good? Does it sound like their old stuff?

It's great! But as the world's second-biggest Shriekback fan, I love everything they've done except Go Bang. It's more along the lines of Sacred City/Naked Apes/Cormorant than Jamscience/Care/Oil and Gold. And if you haven't heard Barry Andrews's solo stuff (Haunted Box of Switches and Stic Basin) you really, really should.

Second biggest fan? How long did it take their biggest fan to discover there was a new album?

I've just ordered Glory Bumps and Oil and Gold; the latter since I don't really know Shriekback (hangs head in shame) but feel I need to.

Anything else I should listen to? I've really been on an alternative kick, where "alternative" means the stuff from the 80s that didn't get commercial airplay.

Thank you for sharing this vital information. I will inform everyone I know.

BTW, your autoerotica series lacks time travel. That would make the trifecta.

Disappointing it most certainly is not! "Bittersweet" and "Amaryllis In The Sprawl" are very very beautiful songs, on a par with "This Big Hush". I've been a Shriekback fan for almost 20 years now, and I honestly like the recent stuff slightly (only slightly) more than the old stuff.
