Exhibit B:
Ricci Revs Up Speed Racer
Christina Ricci is joining Larry and Andy Wachowski's live-action adaptation of the 1960s cartoon Speed Racer. Emile Hirsch, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman already have boarded the high-octane project, which is based on the anime series created by Tatsuo Yoshida for Japanese audiences and later imported to the United States.

Speed centers on a young race car driver, Speed (Hirsch), and his quest for glory in his thundering, gadget-laden vehicle, Mach 5. Ricci will star as Speed's girlfriend, Trixie, his formidable ally on and off the track.

those pictures make it look like they're doing a mash-up of Speed Racer and Tank Girl, with maybe a little of the Dukes of Hazzard thrown in for seasoning.

Yes, I now know that, from earlier comments posted farther down. Thanks.

Heh. You didn't have to reply to thank me. If the comment was no longer useful to you, you could've just done what Mother Mary advised and "let it be." :-)

And now I've wasted your time with another comment. I bet JWZ is getting tired of me.

As long as they all wear initials that have nothing to do with their names, I'm happy.

I don't know if I can sit through 2.5 hours of 10fps footage.

I can only hope that they don't screw with the footage to make it emulate the cartoon.

In A Scanner Darkly, that was okay because the effect was novel and interesting, but when the same effect was reused for a Charles Schwab commercial, I was amused that an investment company would align itself with a film about drugs and corporate manipulation.

they used the rotoscoping technique in Waking Life as well.

And The Five Obstructions, if we're making a list.

Was it the specific effect used in A Scanner Darkly?

There was certainly rotoscoping, but the efffct used was very unique.

It wasn't really the same effect. It had a similar kind of trippy feel to it, though.

Waking Life sucked.

I'm pretty sure I remember the Schwab commercials years before the movie came out.

Corporations using baffling associations in commercials is nothing new.

Ore Ida used ""Golden Brown" by the strangerls in one of their french fry commercials. It's a song about heroin.

Some investment firm used a song from the movie "This is Spinal Tap". The song was their first single from the 60s, called "gimme some money". they used a song from the fictional past of a fictional band.

I was rather amused by the Royal Caribbean commercial using Iggy Pop's "Lust for Life", sans vocals of course.

I just couldn't help thinking:

"Here comes Johnny Yen again
With the liquor and drugs
And a flesh machine
He's gonna do another strip tease"

Yeah, but does she support the manufacture of plug-in hybrids. Mechanic chicks aren't worth it unless they're in to hypermiling.
