The embed doesn't show on my friends page, but I do see it when visiting Jamie's recent page.

I'm using an S2 style I wrote myself, a long time ago. I wonder if I just don't have provisions in place for allowing <embed> tags? I viewed the source of my generated page, the embed isn't there at all. I don't think I'm going to fix it.

oops, see - LJ doesn't like the < object > tag..

basically i said that when i try pasting the source code into an LJ entry, after i submit it, LJ seems to strip it. so it's not in the page source of that entry. the < object > tag and the rest of the source do show up the page source of your entry.

or is this only available to paid accounts?

There are LJ specific tags for doing it. AFAIK you've got to follow these instructions.
