Oh sweet Jaysus, I'm horrified to realize that I know where you got the post-title from. I've been trying to forget that movie, and the last thing I want to do is associate it in any way with W.
Great movie - made me realise that Cronenberg wasn't just cheap gore.
It was unclear what he meant but the Republican president, long known for verbal and grammatical lapses, included the anecdote about obstetrician gynaecologists in a speech attacking Democratic presidential rival Senator John Kerry and his running mate, Senator John Edwards, a former trial lawyer.</a>
"A lusty, zesty president..." - Dan Aykroyd as Jimmuh Carter
You can get the RealPlayer stream of the speech from C-SPAN. The quote occurs at about 21:30.
He actually says "...their... their *love* for..". I'm not kidding about the stumble and emphasis on "love".
It's pretty clear that he was trying to say something along the lines of "Doctors have a passion for their craft, a love for the work they perform", and Mr. Fumbletongue gave a speech that is (as usual) as good as any footage of Ford falling down. | |
